************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 467 December 28, 2022 ************************************************************************ Journees 2023: Time and General Relativity - First announcement Dear colleagues, Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur together with Observatoire de Paris are pleased to announce that the "Journees 2023: Temps et Relativite Generale (Time and General Relativity)" will be held from 11 to 13 September 2023 in Nice at Universite Cote d'Azur and Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur. This colloquium is in the direct continuation of the recurrent Journees which have been organized with success during more than three decades, of which the main purpose is to provide a forum for advanced discussions in the fields of space-time reference systems, Earth rotation, solar system dynamics and ephemerides and space navigation. In the interest of enhancing our understanding of astronomical and atomic time, as well as their interconnections, these Journees 2023 are devoted to geophysical, astronomical, and physical aspects of time, its measurements and interpretations. The meeting will try to cover theoretical concepts, in particular the relativistic framework, as well as observational and technical solutions of time systems. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: 1. Physics of time and underlying philosophical concepts; 2. Tests of gravity in the solar system; 3. Latest progresses in time measurement, development of frequency standards; 4. Application of ultra-accurate time reference scale in physics and astronomy (time transfer, gravitational waves observations, ...); 5. Last advances in the determination on Earth Rotation changes and realisation of space reference systems with focus on UT1 and length of day; 6. Geophysical interpretation of UT1 and length of day variations, consequences on Earth rheology; 7. Time and Solar system dynamics: equator and equinox. These Journees 2023 are sponsored by Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur, Universite Cote d'Azur, CNRS, and Paris Observatory. Looking forward to seeing you in Nice!
