************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 210 July 12, 2012 ************************************************************************ Session on reference frames at AGU Fall Meeting 2012 Dear Colleagues, The Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union will be held in San Francisco, 3-7 December 2012. We bring to your attention the following session: G020: Reference Frames, Technique Errors and Limiting Factors of Space Geodesy Data The precision of space geodesy observations has improved such that geophysical processes affecting Earth systems at <1 mm should now be detectable. Though, inverted parameters still suffer from systematic errors. While most Earth science applications rely on availability of global reference frames, combination of VLBI, SLR, GNSS and DORIS data, along with local survey ties, for ITRF shows inter-technique discrepancies >5 mm for most co-located sites. Thus, this session solicits contributions from analysts of space geodesy techniques and local surveys to help identify and mitigate errors affecting geodetic data, and from scientists studying Earth systems to help quantify error budgets and other limiting factors. The deadline for abstract submission is 8 August 2012: http://agu-fm12.abstractcentral.com/ Please consider submitting a paper for this session or contact us directly if you have any questions.
