************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 171 August 06, 2010 ************************************************************************ AGU 2010 session: NG20 Multi-phase flow Dear colleagues, We draw your attention to this special session of the 2010 Fall AGU Meeting: NG20 Multi-phase flow: an interdisciplinary challenge Sponsors: Nonlinear Geophysics Co-sponsors: Volcanology, Hydrology Conveners: Jenny Suckale (MIT, USA), Isolde Belien (University of Oregon, USA), Katherine Cashman (University of Oregon, USA), Ruben Juanes (MIT, USA) Description: The dynamics of many natural processes is determined by the interaction of multiple distinct fluid and solid phases with drastically different properties. Thermal, mechanical and chemical interactions between these phases lead to complex, nonlinear behavior. This session will explore recent advances in the realm of multi-phase flow from observations, experiments and theory. We seek to bring together researchers from different disciplines and encourage submission from a broad range of fields including hydrology, petroleum geology, carbon sequestration, gas hydrates, volcanic processes, biogeochemistry, and others. Abstract submissions close on 2 September. For more information visit the AGU website (http://www.agu.org/meetings/fm10/). Best wishes, Jenny Suckale, Isolde Belien, Kathy Cashman, Ruben Juanes ************************************************************************ IERS Messages are edited and distributed by the IERS Central Bureau.
