************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 152 September 14, 2009 ************************************************************************ Job announcement at TU Vienna For the project SCHED2010 one position for a Ph.D. student funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) will be filled for three years at the Vienna University of Technology. The position could also be filled with a Post-Doc, but then the duration will be two years. (More information about the salaries can be found at http://www.fwf.ac.at) The goal of project SCHED2010 is to develop scheduling strategies for VLBI2010 systems which will have a considerably increased number of VLBI observations compared to present scenarios. The scheduling software will be part of the new Vienna VLBI Software (VieVS) which is under development at the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics of the Vienna University of Technology and which will be used for simulations with the new schedules. VieVS is written in Matlab, and the new scheduling tools will also be implemented in Matlab. Intensive tests and comparisons with current scheduling strategies/software will be carried out. The successful candidate will work in a large VLBI analysis group with many Ph.D. students and Post-Docs of different nationalities. Working language is English.
