For the organizers, Barbara Kolaczek Nicole Capitaine Aleksander Brzezinski LOC, Chair SOC, Chair SOC, Member LOC, Vice-Chair ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FIRST CIRCULAR Journees 2005 Systemes de Reference Spatio-Temporels "Earth dynamics and reference systems: five years after the adoption of the IAU 2000 Resolutions" Warsaw, 19-22 September 2005 Objectives The international conference entitled Journees 2005, with the sub-title "Earth dynamics and reference systems: five years after the adoption of the IAU 2000 Resolutions", will be organized at the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, 19 to 22 September 2005. Ten years after the Journees 1995, the conference Journees "Systemes de Reference Spatio-Temporels" will be held again in Warsaw. The conference will be organized in cooperation between the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and the Department "Systemes de Reference Temps Espace" (SYRTE) of Paris Observatory. The Journees 2005 will be devoted to recent contributions and developments in the fields of refence systems and modeling Earth's rotation. Preliminary list of sessions: 1. Celestial and terrestrial systems: implementation of the IAU 2000 resolutions 2. Precession, nutation and polar motion 2.1. Recent developments of observation and modeling 2.2. Discussion on the latest proposals of the IAU Working Group on "Nomenclature for fundamental astronomy" 2.3. Presentations of progress in the "Descartes-Nutation" projects 3. Excitation of Earth rotation by geophysical fluids 4. Time and time transfer: recent developments and projects 5. Global reference frames and Earth rotation: impact of the gravitational satellite missions (CHAMP, GRACE, GOCE), new techniques (ring laser etc.), new international projects (IAG-GGOS, GALILEO) The conference language will be English. Call for papers Participants, who plan to submit an oral or poster contribution, are kindly requested to send before 8 May the pre-registration form including the title of presentation. The final title and abstract of the contribution (maximum 300 words) should be submitted before 10 July using the enclosed registration form. The SOC will decide about the acceptance of contribution and inform the authors not later than 15 August 2005. Proceedings Papers presented at Journees will be published in the special volume of the Proceedings of the Journees 2005. Registration fee The registration fee is 60 EUR. It includes abstract volume, daily refreshments, and participation in the conference dinner and a copy of the conference proceedings.
