************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 567 October 29, 2026 ************************************************************************ Transition to New ILRS Products and Data Center Directory Structure Dear ILRS colleagues and users, The ILRS Analysis Standing Committee (ASC) is pleased to announce the official transition to its new operational product series, accompanied by a comprehensive reorganization of the product directory structure at the two ILRS Data Centers (DCs), namely the Crustal Dynamics Data Information System (CDDIS) and the EUROLAS Data Center (EDC). The new operational products have been developed and extensively evaluated within the ILRS ASC to ensure high-quality and consistent contributions to the realization of the International Terrestrial Reference System (ITRS) and the determination of Earth Orientation Parameters (EOP). In particular, the new product portfolio incorporates LARES-2 alongside LAGEOS-1/2 and Etalon-1/2 and provides solutions at different temporal resolutions and latencies. With this announcement, the new operational product series v190 and v90 officially supersede the previous v180 and v80 series, respectively. To ensure a smooth transition, the previous series will remain operational during a short transition period before being discontinued on November 9, 2026. Previously generated products will remain accessible in the ILRS DC archives. The last digit of the product identifier distinguishes different versions within a given product series and may vary among individual ILRS Analysis Centers (ACs) and Combination Centers (CCs). In parallel, the ILRS ASC, in close cooperation with the ILRS DCs, has revised and standardized the product directory structure to improve accessibility, transparency, and consistency across operational and non-operational products. 1. New operational ILRS ASC products The operational ILRS ASC product portfolio now comprises two main product series: Daily solutions - v190 series - Product identifier: v190 - Solution frequency: Daily (7-day observation arcs shifted by one day) - Nominal latency: 1 day after the end of the 7-day observation arc - Estimated parameters: Station positions and Earth Orientation Parameters (POS+EOP; loosely constrained), as well as EOP-only solutions (minimally constrained) - Satellites: LAGEOS-1/2, Etalon-1/2, and LARES-2 - Products: Individual AC solutions and combined CC solutions - Replaces: Previous operational v180 series (to be discontinued on November 9, 2026) Weekly solutions - v90 series - Product identifier: v90 - Solution frequency: Weekly (7-day observation arcs aligned with calendar weeks) - Nominal latency: 9 days after the end of the 7-day observation arc - Estimated parameters and products: - Station positions and Earth Orientation Parameters (POS+EOP; loosely constrained) - EOP-only solutions (minimally constrained) - SP3c-formatted, frequently sampled three-dimensional satellite positions and velocities, with the TRF and EOP fixed to their a priori values - Satellites: LAGEOS-1/2, Etalon-1/2, and LARES-2 - Products: Individual AC solutions and combined CC solutions - Replaces: Previous operational v80 series (to be discontinued on November 9, 2026) The new product series follow the standards and conventions agreed upon within the ILRS ASC. Individual solutions are generated by the ILRS ACs and subsequently combined by the ILRS CCs to provide the official ILRS combined products. 2. Revised ILRS Data Center directory structure To facilitate access to the various ILRS ASC products, the directory structures at CDDIS and EDC have been comprehensively reorganized into three main product categories. The respective ILRS DC product directories are accessible at: - CDDIS: https://cddis.nasa.gov/archive/slr/products/ - EDC: https://edc.dgfi.tum.de/pub/slr/products/ All directory paths listed below are relative to these base directories. A. Reprocessing products REPRO_SERIES/ This directory contains products from previous and ongoing ILRS ASC reprocessing campaigns, including individual AC contributions and the corresponding combined solutions. Products are organized into dedicated subdirectories for each reprocessing campaign. B. Station positions and Earth Orientation Parameters Products are organized according to their temporal resolution: pos+eop/daily/yyyy/yymmdd/ -> ..., v130, v170, v180, v190 pos+eop/weekly/yyyy/yymmdd/ -> ..., v30, v70, v80, v90 Both directories contain individual AC contributions and combined CC solutions, including POS+EOP and EOP-only products. The revised structure preserves access to historical product series while providing consistent locations for the new operational products. C. Satellite orbit products Satellite orbit products are organized into two categories: orbits/TRF/satellite/yyyy/yymmdd/ -> ..., v30, v70, v80, v90 This directory contains individual AC contributions and combined SP3 orbit solutions based on 7-day observation arcs for the satellites used in operational TRF and EOP determination, namely LAGEOS-1/2, Etalon-1/2, and LARES-2. orbits/rapid/satellite/yyyy/yymmdd/ -> v000 This directory contains daily SP3 orbit solutions based on 7-day observation arcs shifted by one day for non-TRF satellites (e.g., Ajisai, LARES, Larets, Stella, Starlette, and Westpac), currently provided by selected ILRS Analysis Centers. 3. Transition to the new operational products Effective immediately, users are encouraged to switch to the new operational ILRS ASC product series and update their automated download and processing procedures to reflect the revised directory structure. To facilitate a smooth transition, the previous operational product series will continue to be generated during a short transition period, with their production officially ending on November 9, 2026. In particular: - The new v190 and v90 series are now the official operational ILRS ASC products, replacing the previous v180 and v80 series, respectively. - The generation of the former series will be discontinued on November 9, 2026. All previously generated solutions will remain accessible through the ILRS DC archives. - All operational and non-operational ILRS ASC products covered by this announcement are now available within the revised directory structure described above. - Apart from the updated product identifiers, the established ILRS file naming conventions remain unchanged. - Users maintaining automated download and processing scripts are kindly requested to update their directory paths and product identifiers accordingly, preferably before the discontinuation of the previous series. The revised structure provides a more transparent, consistent, and sustainable organization of the ILRS ASC product portfolio and establishes a framework for future product developments and reprocessing activities. 4. Acknowledgments The ILRS ASC would like to express its sincere gratitude to Justine Woo and the entire CDDIS team, as well as Christian Schwatke (EDC), for their substantial efforts, dedication, and excellent cooperation in implementing the revised directory structure and reorganizing the existing product archives. We also sincerely thank all ILRS ACs and CCs for their continued contributions and support throughout the development, evaluation, and implementation of the new operational product series. For any questions concerning the new operational products or the revised directory structure, please contact the ILRS ASC.
