************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 531 March 14, 2025 ************************************************************************ New Chair of IERS Directing Board In autumn last year, the IERS Directing Board has elected Adrian Jaeggi as its new Chair. On 1 January 2025 he replaced Tonie van Dam who served the IERS as chairperson from 2021 to 2024. Since his start as Director of the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB, https://www.aiub.unibe.ch) in 2012, Adrian Jaeggi's main research focus has been on the advancement of high-precision orbit determination for various scientific applications. In particular he has also been supporting and promoting AIUB's long-term contributions to the IAG such as, e.g., the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE) global analysis center of the IGS hosted at the AIUB, the SLR station in Zimmerwald operated by the AIUB in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo), or the AIUB associated analysis center of the ILRS. Currently, he is very much interested to contribute to studies on how to rigorously combine the upcoming Genesis GNSS, SLR, VLBI and DORIS data, addressing in particular also the combination of the Genesis orbital parameters, together with the data from the respective ground networks to fully exploit the change of paradigm that will be offered by this unique co-location in space mission. We welcome Adrian Jaeggi to the IERS and would like to thank Tonie van Dam for her time and many efforts serving the IERS over many years as chair and later co-chair of the IERS Global Geophysical Fluids Centre, as a member of the IERS Directing Board and finally as its Chair. Her cooperation brought many impacts into IERS thanks to her expertise in geophysics and space geodesy.
