************************************************************************ IERS Message No. 469 January 23, 2023 ************************************************************************ Research Position in Satellite Gravimetry and Geodynamics at UT CSR We would like to draw your attention to a newly created research position at the Center for Space Research (CSR), University of Texas at Austin. The position is fully funded for two years with partial funding for a third. Continued appointment is anticipated, contingent upon developing an external funding profile. Funding comes from two NASA grants supported by a team of international researchers, which, among the two grants, includes Clark R. Wilson at CSR as supervisor, Jianli Chen at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Ben Chao at Institute of Earth Sciences Academia Sinica Taiwan, Ki-Weon Seo at Seoul National University, Yuning Fu at Bowling Green State University, Weijia Kuang at Goddard Space Flight Center, and others. One of the NASA grants is concerned with interpretation and validation of GRACE and GRACE Follow-On satellite gravity measurements, and the second with analysis of interannual oscillations within the Earth system, including changes in Earth rotation, surface deformation, low-degree components of the gravity field, and connections with surface mass change, magnetic field variations, and motion within Earth's core. The successful candidate will be expected, upon arrival, to begin developing an externally funded research program in areas consistent with the CSR mission. See the CSR website https://www.csr.utexas.edu/ for a review of current active projects and personnel. The University of Texas at Austin has a diverse and active research community in many related fields within the Cockrell School of Engineering and the Jackson School of Geosciences, and is the home of the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) which provides high performance computational support to UT Austin and the US science community. The successful candidate is expected to reside in Austin, Texas and to participate in activities of CSR and UT Austin communities. The position is to be filled as soon as possible. Review of applications will begin February 1, 2023. Full details on the application process can be found at: https://utaustin.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/UTstaff/job/ Research-Associate_R_00024937 [Please note the line wrap in the link.] ************************************************************************ IERS Messages are edited and distributed by the IERS Central Bureau.
