IERS Research Centers


Recently the IERS Directing Board changed the IERS Terms of Reference so
that the Combination Research Centers (CRCs) will be replaced by
Research Centers. The current CRCs will be terminated by December 31
this year.

The Terms of Reference describe the IERS Research Centers as follows:

"Research Center(s) are responsible for carrying out research on a
specific subject. They are established by the Directing Board and are
related to a corresponding Product Center. Research Center(s) are
limited to a term of 4-5 years."

Decisions about establishing Research Centers, which will be initiated
by the Product Centers, have not yet been made.
